A Little Pea is a Good Thing

Just a little update on the pea situation in my yard. I got snappin' with my mobile phone and decided to give my peas their 5 minutes of fame. They're growing pretty nicely and so far the rabbits have stayed away. We have quite a few rabbits around but I guess they have so many other delicious things to eat that they can't be bothered about my peas. My little ones have sprouted from seeds and came up surprisingly quickly.

The peas get plenty of sun especially with us being so close to the arctic circle. The sun comes up at around 4 in the morning and sort of sets around 2 am or something. It never really goes down completely this far into the summer months. I've been sure to give them plenty of water in the evenings because the sun can be brutal.

The planter box and trellis are home made with things we found around our yard. The home made trellis is made of willow branches and have been surprisingly sturdy. They've been outside for a winter and handled the elements without falling apart. I hope that we'll get some peas to eat out the deal but I'm just happy that they're growing and haven't died on me.

About This Blog

This blog is compiled by four wonderfully fantastic people. Wayne and Janet Doolittle have over 60 years combined experience in gardening and landscaping. Though they've never done it professionally their garden speaks volumes about what they know.

Neona Rice is a plant and flower know-it-all works in a plant nursery. As she states it, "I could talk plants until I'm blue in the face". She's got years of experience in both plants and planting. You should see her garden! It's to die for.

Then there's me...I'm just your average Joe that's looking to learn. I try to find creative solutions especially when I can't spend a lot in my yard. Creativity can go a long way! My gardens not to die for yet but I'm working on it!
